Ice Tech Cocktails: Long Island Iced Tea.

The origin.

There are several theories about its origin.

The first of them argues that this great cocktail dates from 1920, coming, specifically, from the United States. Its origin is not the friendliest one. In fact, it coincides with the United States Dry Law period, where alcohol was banned. This generated much more interest in it, prompting the black market to commercialize them.

Here is where our precious cocktail comes from. In a small town in Tennessee called Long Island, a waiter, desperate to satisfy his customers, creates this cocktail as iced tea. Of course, it doesn’t contain a lot of tea 😉 .

Another story also takes us to the United States, specifically in the 70’s. In this case, its creation does not lay on the Dry Law, but in a simple contest whose main ingredient was Triple Seco.

Long Island Iced Tea.

Despite its name, this cocktail does not contain a drop of tea. Of course, there is plenty of ice 😉 .

Ingredients:

• Cola drink
• 1/2 ounces of Gin
• ½ ounces of Sugar Syrup
• ¾ ounces of lemon
• ½ ounces of White Ron
• ½ ounces of Dark Tequila
• ½ ounces of Triple Sec
• ½ ounces of Vodka
• ¾ ounces of Orange Juice
• Ice Tech ice

Preparation

Add the ingredients in a shaker with a lot of Ice Tech ice and shake it. Then, serve the mixture in a glass and fill it with cola. Finally, decorate it with a slice of lemon.
