In the movie “The Godfather II” a version of the famous Daiquiri is created, which is called “Banana Daiquiri“. You can imagine that those scenes accompanied by this famous cocktail were recorded in La Havana, Cuba.
The Daiquiri, together with the Mojito, is the most famous cocktail that comes from Cuba. According to history, Jennings Cox, an American engineer who worked on an iron mine near Santiago de Cuba, invented this drink in the late Nineteenth Century. During a party, Cox was running out of Gin and he wanted to continue serving his guests, so, as he did not want to offer them only rum, he added some lemon juice and sugar. Of course, we hope he put it with crushed Ice Tech GR ice.
His friend, Giacomo Pagliuchi, an Italian mining engineer, named this drink as Daiquiri. This cocktail was made public at the American Bar of the Venus Hotel in Santiago de Cuba, where these miners provided the recipe to a bartender. It quickly became one of the most requested drinks.
Ingredients to make a good Banana Daiquiri
- Ice Tech Crushed granular ice.
- 45 ml of white rum.
- 30 ml of liquid sugar: 2 of sugar by one of water.
- 15 ml of lemon juice.
- Half a banana.
How to prepare an Ice Tech Banana Daiquiri
In this case, we have chosen to make a frozen banana Daiquiri, that is to say: slush. Ice Tech crushed ice empowers fruit flavour and its mix reduces the alcohol graduation sensation on our palate.
- We add to the bowl of the beater a banana, liquid sugar, lemon juice, rum and Ice Tech crushed ice.
- We close it and we mix it for about 10 seconds.
- We pour it on a low glass and garnish it with fruit. In this case we garnish it with banana, but we can also put some strawberry. Finish your Ice Tech cocktail with two straws!
