The gripping story of ice cubes
Freezers, ice machines, ice-creams, Ice Tech ice cubes… Everything is so familiar that it seems to have existed a lifetime. However, this is not the case. Although it has always been present in our lives, ice has not always been used as a means of preserving food or to cool drinks.
Ice history dates back to times before Christ, when people already used to have cold drinks and who even made ice houses. Subsequently, we have data from the Romans, who came to the mountains to rescue ice from the snowy peaks and took them to the city. Its conservation was based on animal skins; it was very expensive so it was initially treated as a luxury item.
After years of broadcasting it, finally in the sixteenth century ice trade was regulated, allowing the creation and the sale of ice-creams, as well as the habit of consuming cold drinks worldwide.
But… Who created ice cubes?
In Ice Tech we manufacture machines that make and sell ice machines worldwide. This is the result of hundreds of years of ice evolution.
Frederic Tudor, in the nineteenth century, began the project of ice cubes. It was not an easy business, as there were several failures and he suffered a lot of mockery while trying to convince people that having a piece of ice floating in their drink was a good idea. We do not conceive it now, do we? We want all our drinks with Ice Tech M ice ;).
Starting his campaign in the United States, Frederic managed to boost his business, marketing the product throughout Europe and even in India.
Finally, he was crowned as the “King of Ice” until some years after, cooling companies ended with his industry.
Thank you Frederic J!
