Champagne with Ice: The Trend of 2022

Champagne with Ice: The Trend of 2022

Ice is taking on more and more prominence in cocktails and the world of champagne – together with the Spanish sparkling wine named ‘cava’ – has joined this trend.

Important brands such as Moët, Freixenet or Anna Cordorniu have revolutionized their champagne products by choosing ice as an extra element to be able to cool off on the hottest nights of summer, reinforcing the champagne flavour. Although once you try it, you will see that this idea is suitable for any time of the year.

Advantages of ice in champagne

Adding ice to champagne may seem strange since you might think that you could lose its flavour and quality, but this is not the case since ice allows you to intensify the tasting and you will be able to enjoy your champagne at 100%.

At ICE TECH we recommend two types of ice cubes depending on the cup that is being used.

  • For flute glasses, the Alfa cube is the one that suits best.
  • For a balloon or cabernet glass, we recommend the Delta Max cube, which would allow to maintain the freshness and intensity of flavour of the drink without watering it down.

Champagne brands with ice

In that sense, there are several brands that have opted for this new project.

  1. Freixenet ICE

The new Freixenet Ice has been created to be enjoyed with ice, in a balloon glass. You can also make a mix with your favourite flavours, such as raspberry, kiwi, lime or lemon. In the heat of the night, the prestigious mixologist Javier De Las Muelas likes to mix them in original cocktails: with peach liqueur, St. Germain, ginger and grapefruit…. and always, always with ITV ice. The result is magnificent and very refreshing.

  1. Estelle & Fortuna

It is an important winery based in Treviso, Italy, which has arrived for the first time in Spain.

Its two high-quality champagnes stand out, the Gran Rosé Brut and the Gran Cuvée Brut, which can be drunk with ice without losing quality and flavour. Its method is 100% artisanal in the harvest as well as in the selection and vinification.

  1. Moët Ice

And if cava can be drunk with ice, why not try with champagne too? This the idea of Moët & Chandon, which at the beginning of the year presented its Moët Ice Impérial range. It is the first and only champagne specially created to be enjoyed with ice. A new experience that stands out for its bright fruitiness, its seductive palate and its elegant maturity. Our suggestion is to always put at least three or four ice cubes, as it is essential to “lighten” the intensity of the fruit and accentuate its freshness. Then combine it with mint leaves, white grape or lime zest, cucumber peel, a very thin slice of ginger, cardamom seeds and red fruits (strawberries, raspberries).

  1. J.P. Chenet Ice Edition

Apart from cava and champagne, another of the surprising novelties of the year has been discovering the first wine to drink with ice from J.P. Chenet. The French brand, leader in the market, proposes it through its ‘J.P. Chenet Ice Edition’. Soon we will delve into this world in a new post.

  1. Anna Codorniu Sweet Edition

Another of the cava brands that has joined this new trend of cavas with ice has been Codorniu. It does so with the ‘Anna Codorniu Sweet Edition’ range, a sweeter version of the Anna Codorniu’s products that allows different combinations. Among them, one of the most successful and recommended is to serve cava in a wide glass with plenty of ice.
