Tartufo ice-cream, the "Ice City" dessert
We love desserts, cocktails made with Ice Tech ice, ice-creams… But what we like the most is Italy, we are in love with our country! In the city of Calabria, in southern Italy, right in the Gulf of St. Eufemia, we can find Pizzo, one Italian city full of history and adventures. Discover it with Ice Tech!
Despite the number of monuments, churches, monasteries and palaces Pizzo has, it is famous above all for its sweet and refreshing ice–cream dessert “Tartufo Gelato” which gives the name of the “Ice City” to it.
The “Tartufo Gelato” was discovered in the 50s by Prince Umberto of Savoy, who was visiting the city when he ran into a gourmet feast. In honour of Piedmont white truffles and to its citizen’s passion for chocolate, an ice-cream dessert with the shape of a truffle was created.
The combination of flavours is simple: a heart of chocolate ice-cream covered with hazelnut ice-cream and a coverage made of cocoa and sugar. This delicious dessert with the shape of a truffle just removed from the interior of the Earth can be easily made with your hands 😉
Although it is a worldwide available dessert, even tourists come to Pizzo Calabro to try this craft and traditional ice-cream.
If it makes you salivate and you want to know more about it, find above a video for you to enjoy the elaboration of this dessert which for sure will steal your heart.
