The Whiskey Sour, a "Some Like It Hot" cocktail

Today we make a trip to the past, specifically until 1955, where the mythical Marilyn Monroe stars the most famous “uprising” skirt in the history of cinema. If there is a drink that characterizes the film it is undoubtedly the Whiskey Sour. In Ice Tech we love cinema and we love it even more if we can learn new cocktails. Do you want to know more about it? Keep reading!

Whisky Sour.

It was born in Chile, in the port of Iquique. It was created by Elliot Stubb, a butler who dreamed of becoming, one day, the owner of his own cocktail. So he was. Experimenting with mixtures gave this “bitter” cocktail.

Originally, lemon juice was used in Pica, a small lime that was only produced in the oasis of Pica, Matilla and the Valley of Quisma, very close to its place of origin.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 45 ml of Whiskey.
  • 30 ml of lemon juice.
  • 2 sugar teaspoons.
  • Lemon rind.
  • Ice Tech Ice.

Its preparation is even simpler. You only need a shaker to mix a good glass with ice. Mix all the ingredients in the shaker and serve it very cold.

Whiskey Sour is usually served in an old-fashioned glass or in a low one, always garnished with a lemon rind.

And, if this recipe has not convinced you yet, you can add to your Whiskey Sour egg white. It’s even more incredible!

It is usually served before meals as an aperitif. Also, you can substitute the Whiskey for Bourbon, thus obtaining a Bourbon Sour 😉 .
