The Sfogliatelle are the most famous Italian dessert Italian. They have the shape of a shell. Its origin dates back to the seventeenth century in the Monastery of Santa Rosa, in Conca de Marini. However, chef Pasquale Pintauro made them famous in the city of Naples. In his small shop, the baker began selling these cupcakes without knowing the impact they would have on the whole country gastronomic history. They were quite a discovery! These shells are a little difficult to make. Therefore, this cake is usually only two ways out: terrific or an absolute disaster, there is no middle point in its elavoration. How is it done? The hardest part of this cake is to make the paste.
- The dough must be stretched on a long table and then roll it.
- Then, some discs must be made from the ends in a pocket shape. They must be then filled.
- Finally, it is baked until the layers get separated and voilà!
- There are several possibilities for filling the pie, the most characteristic ones: orange, almond paste and candied lemon peel.
