Torino, perhaps we are talking about the less crowded city of Italy, hidden under the shadow of the great European capitals. However, it is the third richest city in the country.

The capital of Piedmont, surrounded by the incredible Alps, hides secrets that will seduce you little by little and you will not be able to scape from the temptation to visit it. But what can we see in Turin?

For those who don’t know it, Turin is known as the city of automobiles, vermouth and chocolate.

It s undeniably true that the heart of the city is the Piazza Castello, where you can find the most emblematic buildings of the city such as Teatro Regio, Palazzo Madama, with its two facades, a Baroque and a Medieval one; the Church of San Lorenzo, in Baroque style; the Royal Palace, former residence of the Savoy family; and of course, the Duomo of Turin, the Cathedral of the city, where the Holy Shroud is kept.

One of the obligatory visits is “El toro”, one of the most representative symbols of the city. It is said that if you want to return to Turin, you must step on the noble parts of the bull in the shield ;).

As we said before, Turin is a city of cars. Here the first factory of Fiat was created in 1899, and of course, you cannot miss the opportunity to visit it.

When feeling hungry you can go for a snack to the “Quadrilatero Romano”, the nucleus of the ancient Roman city Julia Augusta Taurinorum. It is the ideal place to have an “aperitif”, a free appetizer, typical of northern Italy, with a delicious vermouth or the so trendy American cocktail (link). In addition, you can take visit Pessione, a town in the municipality of Chieri, famous for hosting the Martini & Rossi factory since 1864.

To say goodbye to the city with a good taste, you should visit the chocolate shop Carlo Villarboito. There, you can taste all kinds of chocolates, like the Gianduiotto, which in case you did not know, was the first chocolate tablet with hazelnuts.
