Mint Julep: tradition and history directly into the palate

Mint Julep.

Neither it is a Mojito, nor it comes from the Caribbean! But Mint Julep is a must-drink on any cocktail list.

Mint Julep is considered to be the American cocktail par excellence. Although its origin is not very clear, its history and tradition come from the American state of Kentucky.

It rose to fame becoming the official drink of the Derby of Kentucky in 1938, getting to serve more than one hundred thousand Mint Juleps! :0.

It is a very sweet and refreshing alcoholic beverage, whose main ingredients are: mint, Bourbon, sugar and sparkling water.

Ingredients:

• 84 grams of Bourbon.
• 2 tablespoons of brown sugar.
• 12 mint leaves.
• Soda.
• Ice Tech CD ice cubes.

Preparation:

Choose the glass that you like and directly fill it with: a few mint leaves, sugar and sparkling water. Crush everything well.

Then, add plenty of Ice Tech ice and pour the Bourbon over the mixture.

Stir it well in order to combine all the flavours and aromas and… Enjoy a true Mint Julep!

Those who are not Whiskey lovers, don’t worry! There is a variant prepared with Vodka instead of Bourbon. This cocktail is known as the Kremlin Colonel and its flavour, although is not the same one as that of the original recipe, is very refreshing as well.
